Thomas Gray (b. 2004) is an emerging composer currently studying at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide. Originally from Townsville, North Queensland, Thomas’ composition teachers have so far have included Charles Bodman Rae, Anne Cawrse and Dylan Crismani, and he has also studied composition and clarinet with Mark Smith. In 2024, Thomas’s first string quartet, Perfume, was premiered by the Australian String Quartet, and was awarded first place in the ASME (SA) Young Composer’s Competition. Thomas has been using his time at university to explore the rich tapestry of music and to begin developing his own musical style.
